Elon Musk has once again extended his $1 billion offer to Wikipedia, reiterating his condition that the platform change its name. The Tesla CEO responded to a tweet from a user named John’s Memes, asking if his offer still stood. Musk confirmed, replying: "Offer still stands. Come on, do it …"

The offer, originally made in October 2023, was for Wikipedia to rename itself to "Dickipedia." Musk had tweeted at the time: “I will give them a billion dollars if they change their name to Dickipedia.”

In addition to the name-change offer, Musk poked fun at Wikipedia's financial appeals. A Twitter user, Piet, shared a meme showing a man with a “Wikipedia head” asking for donations, captioned, “Wikipedia when I open a page on their website, it asks for financial assistance.” Musk responded with “Every time” and a smiling emoji.

Musk's critique of Wikipedia's funding requests is not new. Last year, he urged his followers to stop donating to the Wikimedia Foundation, which runs Wikipedia. His reasoning was based on the organization's spending on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Musk's call to action came in response to a chart showing that 29% of Wikipedia’s $177 million budget for 2023-24 was allocated to “equity” and “safety & inclusion.”

Despite his criticisms, Musk has maintained that his $1 billion offer to rename the platform still stands, reinforcing his stance even in November 2024 when a user named Doge Designer reshared the original tweet. Musk responded, "True. Offer still stands."
