Apple Fixing iPhone Glitch That Swaps ‘Racist’ with ‘Trump

Apple is working to resolve an issue on iPhones where the speech-to-text feature wrongly replaces the word “racist,” displaying “Trump” momentarily before self-correcting.
The technology giant has confirmed that it is working to sort out the problem which has attracted criticism from Trump’s competitors, conservcative figures, and even Jones from Infowars.
Many users of the iPhone have posted videos depicting the issue on social platforms. NBC News which is partnered with Sky News in the US was able to capture the phenomenon on several iPhones albeit not all of their attempts proved successful.
The NBC News video shows a iPhone speaker using dictation and saying the word “racist” and instead of it displaying in text, “Trump” appears for a moment before being corrected to “racist.”
The dismissal of an Alex Jones video on X makes the statement, “EXTREME BREAKING NEWS! I just caught apple carrying out a vicious, subliminal attack on president Trump.”
On X, American conservative radio host Alex Jones stated: “EXTREME BREAKING NEWS! I just caught Apple carrying out a vicious, subliminal attack on president Trump.” Why does the Apple glitch occur?
As it was reported by TweakTown Apple does not have advance reasoning. Its models used for speech recognition may preemptively output some words that have phonetic similarity as the precondition but do not provide a deeper fix.
The firm noted that voice recognition systems are capable of producing words that are phonetically close to what is meant by the user long before modifying the output phrase to put into context its meaning. Apple accepted this trouble. The company said that it already knows of the speech recognition model for dictation, which has a problem, and it is issuing a remedy today.
In Apple’s defense, the bug has inappropriately proposed ‘Trump’ for several phrases with an R in them.
As reported by Sky News, an Apple spokesperson said: “We are aware of an issue with the speech recognition model that powers dictation, and we are rolling out a fix today” Sky news.
Multiple iPhones had this issue, and according to TweakTown, this problem still exists on iOS 18. What we do not know is that it could be based on the location because an iPhone 15 Pro Max on iOS 18.3.1 did not show those signs when used outside the US. Certain areas may have already received this solution.
Some Apple users supporting Trump have, due to the controversy, accused Apple of having political motives. This incident follows Apple’s announcement regarding the purported investment of 500 billion dollars in the United States in the next 4 years.
