"Anand Mahindra's Masterstroke to Counter Elon Musk's Tesla Entry into India"

Anand Mahindra Confident Mahindra Group Can Compete with Tesla in India
Anand Mahindra, the Chairman of the Mahindra Group, expressed confidence that his company is well-positioned to take on Tesla if the American electric vehicle (EV) maker enters the Indian market. In a recent post on social media platform X, Mahindra reflected on the challenges Mahindra Group has faced in the past, emphasizing the company’s resilience.
He drew parallels to the early 1990s when India liberalized its economy, inviting foreign investments and leading to the arrival of global automakers like Daewoo, Ford, General Motors, and Hyundai. These companies introduced cutting-edge technologies and design innovations to the Indian market, raising concerns about local manufacturers' ability to compete. Despite the intense competition, Mahindra Group not only survived but thrived.
“We’ve faced similar questions since the liberalization of the Indian economy in 1991,” Mahindra remarked. “How will we compete against Tata, Maruti, and all the multinational companies? But here we are, still standing strong.”
Mahindra reiterated his optimism about the future, emphasizing that the company is not just focused on surviving but on staying relevant for the long haul. “We’re working tirelessly to ensure that we’re not only around today but are still relevant a century from now,” he said. “With your support, we’ll make that happen.”
Mahindra's confidence underscores the company’s readiness to compete in the evolving electric vehicle market, showing that Mahindra Group’s commitment to innovation and sustainability will continue to shape its success.
