In a move that could potentially intensify the Russia-Ukraine conflict, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has proposed sending British troops to Ukraine. The aim is to demonstrate to U.S. President Donald Trump that Europe is prepared to play a significant role in fostering peace. Starmer emphasized his desire to act as a mediator between Europe and the U.S., especially as tensions grow over issues like trade and freedom of speech.

Starmer also confirmed he would take part in a summit organized by French President Emmanuel Macron, which will focus on Europe’s involvement in ending the war in Ukraine. Leading up to this summit, Starmer has been urging other European nations to deploy troops to Ukraine as well. "We are ready and willing to send our forces to the ground to provide a security guarantee for Ukraine," he stated. However, he acknowledged that while European nations should take action, the backing and security guarantees from the U.S. are essential for achieving lasting peace.
