US Sends 1,800 Bombs to Israel: Trump & Netanyahu's Next Move?

In a significant development in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, Israel has received a shipment of 1,800 heavy bombs from the United States, marking a shift in U.S. policy under President Donald Trump’s administration. These bombs, weighing 2,000 pounds (900 kg) each, were delivered after a decision by the Biden administration to halt a similar shipment last year, citing concerns over the escalation of the conflict in Gaza.
The Israeli Defence Ministry confirmed the arrival of the shipment, which was unloaded at Ashdod port and then transported to an Israeli airbase. The MK-84 bombs (also known as BLU-117), made in the U.S., are a key asset for Israel’s military as it continues its battle against Hamas in Gaza. The shipment also highlights the strong relationship between the U.S. and Israel, with the Israeli Defence Ministry praising the support from Washington.
Since October 2023, the U.S. has sent around 76,000 tons of military supplies to Israel, including numerous aircraft and ship deliveries. Under the previous Biden administration, a shipment of 1,800 MK-84 bombs was suspended in May 2023 due to worries about a large-scale military operation in Gaza. However, by July, the U.S. approved a smaller shipment of bombs, though the 2,000-pound bombs remained restricted.
Now, with Trump in office, the restriction has been lifted, allowing this latest delivery of military supplies to bolster Israel’s defense capabilities. Israel has expressed its gratitude for this support, emphasizing the importance of these weapons in the ongoing conflict.
