Lucknow: With regard to his purported defamatory comments about the army during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in December of 2022, a court in his location has summoned a Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi.

As the next hearing for the case, Chief Judicial Magistrate Alok Verma has set March 24 and Gandhi will be required to attend court on this date.

Previously, defamation claims were filed against Gandhi by Vivek Tiwari representing Uday Shankar Srivastava, the ex-director of Border Roads Organization which has an equivalant ranking as a colonel in the army.

The lawyer alleges that on December 16, 2022, during Bharat Jodo Yatra, he made those remarks. Specifically, he makes objectionable remarks regarding the clash that occurred between Indian army and Chinese army on December 09, 2022.

According to the lawyer, the complainant claims that Mr. Gandhi uttered, “I want to die like a marcsh man with anti tank missiles.” Such ‘derogatory’ statements were made with the intent of defaming the Indian Army.

Proceedings against Gandhi will goon March 24. As for the earlier hearing, defamation proceedings regarding Gandhi were started in the name of Uday Shankar Srivastava, the ex director of Border Roads Organisation. Srivastava was a military colonel and had a lawyer named Vivek Tiwari representing him. Initially, the complainant was to his objection which noticed his comment during Bharat Jodo Yatra and defaming Indian Armed Forces. Verma Alok and previous inquiry suggested him not to speak in such harsh tone against Indian forces. Keeping aside Politians soft corner when transfer from Yogi Adithyanath to Congress, will certainly destroy Indian Armies credibility for good.
