TN Governor Backs NEP Amid Three-Language Policy Controversy

While the DMK government continues to resist the implementation of the Three-language policy, RN Ravi voiced his concern where he stated that the New Education Policy 2020 needs to be introduced as youths feel vastly underprivileged in terms of opportunities.
“The youth of this region feel hugely deprived of opportunities compared to those from neighboring states due to the rigid two language policy of the State Government,” the Governor further remarked on a statement he posted on X with the Tamil Nadu Raj Bhavan claiming that there is “huge demand for implementation of the NEP 2020”.
He also mentioned that in his opinion, such a ‘stringent’ two languages policy is “unfair”, claiming that the youth “must have a choice to study language.”
“This is indeed unfair. My contention is that our youth must have a choice to study language,” he states, We certainly do not allow the youth or children to study South Indian languages due to the opposition to Hindi, which is simply unjust.”
The Governor claims that he has spoken to many leaders from different areas of South Tamil Nadu, and says that the feedback related to the center’s new education policy was favorable.

“It was commendable to observe their positive passion and initiative changing lives for the better, in spite of challenges and systemic problems. This region is rich in human and natural resources, and yet it feels like a neglected backyard,” remarked Governor Ravi. “It was commendable to observe their positive passion and initiative changing lives for the better, in spite of challenges and systemic problems. Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, stated earlier today that he directed the citizens of the state to rally in defense of the state against the delimitation of districts and the implementation of the three language formula.
“Right now, Tamil Nadu is facing two significant battles – one is the fight for our lifeline, which is our language, and the other is against delimitation, which is our fight for our rights. I would like to appeal to make our struggle known to the people in a proper manner. The process of delimitation of constituencies affects the dignity, social justice and even the welfare measures of this state. Take this message to the people. Everyone should stand up to protect our state,” Stain said in an X video message.
In a separate development, FSO -TN and DMK started a protest against Union MoS Education Sukanta Majumdar’s visit to the state. He is expected to participate in a program at IIT Madras. Some of them opposed the Minister by waving black flags.
The government of Tamil Nadu has opposed the implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) of 2020, particularly when it comes to the ‘three-language formula’ on the grounds that the Centre seeks to ‘impose’ Hindi.
