T'gana Tunnel Collapse: ‘Accidents Happen in Tough Jobs,’ Says Jaypee Chief

Jaiprakash Gaur, the founder chairman of Jaypee Group, the contracting company of Srisailam Left Bank Canal project that partially collapsed trapping 8 people, said on Wednesday that “difficult” works tend to get people injured. Accidents may happen.
Jaiprakash Associates Limited, the flagship company of Jaypee Group, got the contract of SLBC from Srisailam left bank canal.
After attending Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, the ninety-year-old said he had seen six to seven accidents in his professional career spanning over five decades while having a conversation with journalists at the accident site.
“After my life, in these difficult works, such things happen, I think I may have six or seven accidents, that is in the Tehri project, in Bhutan, in jk everywhere it is very normal. you have to deal with all this," he said. Of the eight trapped, two engineers and four labourers are from Jaiprakash Associates.
The company on february 23 notified the stock exchanges of a day prior that between 10 am and 11 am, 60 people including engineers, technicians and operators alongside the tunnel boring machine tbm in charge were present on site.
