A teenage boy from Malvan, a town in Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district, was arrested for hurling anti-India slogans during the cricket match between India and Pakistan last Sunday. His family was also taken into custody, and their scrap business was set on fire by the local officials, as per Indian Express news report.

As claimed by police, there was a man passing by the family’s house who stated that he saw a boy shouting pro-Pakistan slogans. The man, along with a few other people from the area, started fighting with the family which turned out to be a scuffle.

Following that, some people summoned the police, and acting on a request made by a resident of that area, they registered a case. The parents were arrested that day and later produced before the court which sent them to jail. The father and mother face charges of causing communal disputes, promoting national disintegration, and conspiracy.

Nilesh Rane promises to destroy family

On the following Monday, February 24, some locals organized a motorcycle protest with the aim to subvert the family and demand more action to be taken. The family had migrated from Uttar Pradesh where they had lived in Malvan for the past 15 years. The police added that the council subsequently deported the family and the scrap shop because of a lack of appropriate permits and in the process a vehicle they owned got damaged as well.

Nilesh Rane, who is the son of a central cabinet minister Narayan Rane, now publicly reveals that he is the leader of  the Shiv Sena party backed by Eknath Shinde and claimed that, while uploading on X, that the scrap dealer uttered anti Indian speeches. He showed intent to ensure that the family will be forcefully removed from the district and bragged that their scrap business is already devastated. Furthermore, he posted images of the shop getting demolished and thanked the local council and police for acting promptly.

So far, the District Collector of Sindhudurg has failed to release a statement.
