Samay Raina Summoned by Mumbai Police Amid 'Parents' Remark Controversy

For YouTuber Raina, trouble continues to beset him after the Maharashtra cyber cell summoned him for the second time within the week concerning a matter revolving around podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia’s statement on the influencer’s YouTube channel ‘India’s Got Latent’. While informing that he will return from the US on March 17, Raina stated that he is willing to comply with the summons but he needs more time to put together a proper statement.
Sameer Raina along with several other influencers seem to have opened a pandora’s box after a video of their familiar comment ‘parents having sex’ went viral and sparked a national debate on censorship and freedom of speech.
A viral clip shows Allahbadia posing the cringe-inducing question to a contestant: “Would you prefer to have to watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life, or join in once only?”
After Ranveer Allahbadia’s crass joke, his ex-Twitter account X received significant attention where he posted, “Everything that is happening has been way too much for me to handle. I have removed all Indias Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies for the fairness of their inquiries. Thank you." (folded hand emoji).
A Ranveer Allahbadia social media viewer did not appreciate his ‘joke’ on India’s Got Latent. A formal complaint was filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission against Ranveer, Samay, Apoorva Mukhija, and the show’s organizers. The complaint is for the use of abusive language. There were also assertions made with suggestive uncertainty concerning Samay’s intent.
Later, Ranveer issued an apology for the “inappropriate” comments he made during the YouTube episode of the show and how he chose to make them. Despite this, the controversy is far from over.
