Filmmakers typically avoid investing in actors with a history of unsuccessful films, but a bold exception was made a decade ago. The result? A film that not only defied expectations but also created history by earning seven times its production cost. It went on to win over four dozen awards, and the stars—Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor—rose to immense popularity.

We’re talking about Aashiqui 2, released in 2013, which became a massive hit. The undeniable chemistry between Aditya and Shraddha captivated audiences, and the film performed remarkably at the box office. Prior to this, both actors had faced struggles with films that didn’t perform well commercially.

Aditya made his Bollywood debut with London Dreams, where he had a supporting role alongside Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan. Unfortunately, it was a flop. Following that, he appeared in films like Action Replay and Guzaarish, both of which were major disappointments at the box office.

Similarly, Shraddha’s journey wasn’t smooth sailing either. She debuted in 2010 with Teen Patti, but the film didn’t resonate with audiences. She then took on the lead role in Love Ka The End, but it also failed to make an impact at the box office. Before Aashiqui 2, Shraddha was often labeled a “flop actress.”

However, Aashiqui 2 turned everything around. It gave both Aditya and Shraddha the breakthrough they needed, breathing new life into their careers. The film’s success wasn’t just critical; it was a commercial triumph, and the makers reaped the rewards at the box office, proving that taking a risk can sometimes lead to incredible success.
