Rashid Khan Reveals Unique Strategy as MI Cape Town Captain

New Delhi: Rashid Khan, who captains MI Cape Town, said that he writes his key strategies on his arms to be able to recall them during the match. The concept comes from the American show called Prison Break. As he watched the show, he noticed the characters used similar techniques. With this, Rashid started writing notes on his arms so that he does not forget any piece of information while playing.

The finals of the SA20 2025 will be an interesting matchup between Rashid Khan’s MI Cape Town and Aiden Markram’s Sunrisers Eastern Cape on Saturday, February 8 at the Wanderers Stadium, located in Johannesburg.

He humorously suggested that if MI Cape Town were to win the SA20 2025 title, it would be thanks to the show characters Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows because of their inspirational effect. Binge-watched the show, along with his team’s victory in qualifier 1 on February 4. After three days, he came up with the arm writing idea to use during the matches Rashid strategy inspired him.

Rashid Khan said his inspiration came from the series “Prison Break” which teaches “how to get out of tough situations under pressure. It inspires and gives you ideas for the game, and as captain you have to implement those ideas. Sometimes you forget things as a captain so I had the idea to write things on my arm to remind myself for the next over,” he said ahead of the SA20 final. 

Just as Rashid Khan is preparing to guide his team towards their maiden title, Michael Scofield’s tattoos in Prison Break contain important codes and messages that assist him in completing his mission. “I sat in my room and watched Netflix a lot. Adapting from one city to another with different conditions and pitches is tough, but that is where experience comes in. As a professional cricketer, you have to rely on that experience,” Rashid explained. 

However, that is a tall order considering most eastern cape sunrisers have been two time defending champions and quite the task for Rashid in capturing the title for MI Cape Town.
