Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Virat Kohli & Rishabh Pant Might be Presenting Delhi; Breaking News Right Before on Going Champions Trophy 2025 Ranjis
The second chapter of Ranji Trophy 2024-25 is all set to start from the 23rd of January. Ever since the Boarders Gavaskar Trophy where the Indian team went on to lose against Australia, there have been a lot of doubts over the Indian batters. Starting with the big names like Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill and even Rohit Sharma the captain of the team. After this the past cricketers suggested all the players who are a part of Team India to take part in domestic cricket. Now recently the updates have come in regarding the Delhi team for the second stage of the Ranji Trophy and it includes the names of Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant.
Virat Kohli Suggested To Take Part in Domestic Games By Ashok Sharma, Secretary Ddca Delhi Comments On London Cricketers
Kohli and Rishabh Pant will be a part of Delhi's probable team for the last two rounds of the Ranji Trophy. Ashok Sharma is the Secretary of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), explained how probably Kohli might come in handy while playing for Delhi again after suggesting cricketers from Mumbai to strive in domestic events.
In an interview with The Indian Express, Ashok Sharma remarked, “Both Virat and Rishabh are among those who could be selected. The Ranji Trophy camp is underway, and there is a cricketers culture in Mumbai where Indian players on the Ranji roster are expected to play whenever one can, unlike the culture in Delhi. And the players are also being encouraged by the BCCI to participate in the domestic events. Yes, I think yes, Virat and Rishabh should be participating at least in one game but I doubt they will.”
DDCA President on the Fitness Issue and the Availability of the Tried and Tested Players
Like Rohan Jaitley, the president of the DDCA, Kohli and Pant should figure in the Ranji Trophy competition if they are in good shape and available. But he however explained other issues that will determine the outcome. “They should play, but there are several considerations. Considering the amount of cricket they have, sufficient weight has to be given to their fitness,” Jaitley remarked. He underscored that domestic competitions are of great importance as he commented, “Those who are in international duty, naturally, cannot take part otherwise they should. Their workload is being controlled by the NCA and national selectors so there are many issues but domestic cricket is their priority.”
Virat Kohli’s Ranji Trophy Stats and Achievements and Records- “God of T20 Cricket” Kohli made his Ranji Trophy debut in the 2006-07 Season and ever since has accumulated hundreds of thousands of runs in the game playing a total of 23 matches.
His inaugural match was against Tamil Nadu, yet it is overshadowed by the fact that he managed to score only 10 runs. But overall, Kohli’s performance in the Ranji Trophy has been remarkable, having scored a total of 1574 runs with an impressive average of 51 and 5 centuries to his name. He competed for the last time against Uttar Pradesh in 2012, scoring 14 and 42 runs in the two innings, both times against India’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who posed significant threat by his lethal swing.
