Unprovoked fire was opened by the Pakistani soldiers against the Indian posts located on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Wednesday. It is reported by security officials that the Indian Army retaliated vigorously, which resulted in severe damage on the Pakistani side. Earlier, 2 Indian soldiers died due to an IED blast which is believed to have been placed by terrorists close to the LoC in Akhnoor sector of Jammu district.

Before relighting the fire, a ceasefire had been in place since February 25, 2021, which has seen very few violations along the LoC. But, as per reports, on the forward Tarkundi post there were attacks of Pakistani troops firing with no reason. The Indian Army responded with great intensity, which resulted in severe destructions of the enemy forces.

The officials however claimed that the enemy forces suffered ‘heavy casualties’, but the damage the Pakistani side suffered is still uncovered. The information was neither confirmed nor denied by the Indian Army.

About a month back the violation of the ceasefire came into place after Pakistani politician Anwaar ul-Haq rallied for a jihad against India. He stated that he will use all Pakistan assets to remove Indian aggression from Jammu and Kashmir.

At the same time, a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Indian Army suffered minor injuries after he accidentally stood on a landmine in the same region. He was swiftly transported to a military hospital.

As per the reports, the LoC is still under extreme distress owing to an unprecedented surge of aggression from the hostile neighbor in the past weeks. This marked the first ceasefire infringement for the year and the fourth one for the past five days.

On February 6, a soldier stationed in Toofojian, 8 kilometers southwest of Rajouri, sustained injuries when he was shot at from the Pakistan side, while one of the active posts in the Kalal sector of the Nowshera region of Jammu suffered forward edge surveillance on cross-border skirmish. Prior to this on February 8, some armed militants targeted and opened indiscriminate fire on a scouting team of the Indian Army in Keri area of Rajouri. The latest information reveals that the terrorists kept a watchful eye on the border waiting for a chance to penetrate into in into Indian soil.

A blast of a landmine, planted by militants attempting to breach the international borders on the Indian side of the Krishna Ghati sector, caused injuries and damage on the night of the fourth and fifth of February, 2022.

On 10 February, Lieutenant General Naveen Sachdeva, General Officer Commanding of the White Knight Corps, analyzed the LoC situation in Rajouri. The Indian Army stated, “The GOC White Knight Corps in conjunction with GOC Ace of Spades and GOC Crossed Swords Division visited forward areas of Rajouri sector to know the present position of security and Pakistan’s operational movements.”
