A personal and spiritual side of Steve Jobs came to light recently when a handwritten letter by the future Apple co-founder, dated 1974 when he was 19, went under the hammer for a staggering $500,312 (Rs. 4.32 crore). Written to Tim Brown, his friend from childhood, the letter reflects how Jobs had at that time zealously wanted to practice Zen Buddhism and visit India’s Kumbh Mela which arguably is the largest single religious gathering on earth.

In the message, which was sent out shortly before his birthday, Jobs planned a trip to India to attend Kumbh Mela.
