Also known as the IAS exams, the Civil Services Examination is taken every year by the Union Public Service Commission. Held in three different phases, it is regarded as the most competitive test in India. There are those candidates who have written the UPSC exam more than once or even thrice relying on a rich pay deal to drop their well-paying jobs for the civil servants’ path. Let’s explore in this article the IAS Garima Agarwal’s story that will definitely ignites the fire within everyone.

Garima Agarwal’s story is yet another inspiring example of a successful candidate who achieved all her goals despite many challenges she faced. Nayana has achieved something rather exceptional which is having passed the particular examination for not a one but twice. Thus, in her first try, she got the IPS post. Nevertheless, she was not successful in the first attempt, but she tried the examination in the next year and got selected for joining as IAS.

Garima AgarwalDSC_Research_14 is an inspiring personality who has hails from Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh. One of the brilliant alumni of International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad, she triumphantly opted for the UPSC Civil Services Exam.

From the very beginning of their studies, Garima Agarwal was distinguished by high results. To avoid following the footsteps of her elder sisters who joined their husbands’ businesses, she focused on getting an education at Saraswati Vidya Mandir in Khargone. On passing the JEE later on, she got an admission to IIIT Hyderabad. For this she even attended Germany for internships but fate had other deeds in stock for her.

Though after her internship in Germany, she proceeded back to India and dedicated 1 and a half years for the preparation of UPSC. In the year 2017, she got an All India Rank AIR 241 in the prestigious UPSC CSE and got selected for the IPS. However, her goals did not end here. Unsatisfied with this result, she also started preparing for the civil services while being an IPS officer.

When still in the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Police Academy in Hyderabad, Garima could not relent on her UPSC studies and preparations. She had given the examination in 2017, and she scored relatively lower rank but in 2018 she appeared again and made it to AIR 40. This achievement was the realization of her dream for becoming part of the Indian Administrative Service or IAS. At present she is working as the Assistant District Magistrate in the newly formed state of Telangana.

The analysis of recognized candidate Garima who appeared in the UPSC Civil Services Examination conducted in 2017 revealed that she scored a total of 1030 marks where she scored 840 marks in written examination and she obtained 190 marks in personality test. In the subsequent year, she appeared in the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2018 where she increased her score to 1042, written test being 849 and personality test 193.
