M. B. Shetty: From Waiter to Bollywood's Iconic Stunt Choreographer

Vicky Kaushal has turned out to be a certification of success films in Bollywood today. The films he is one way or the other associated with can transform into blockbuster productions. Since films like Uri and Raazi, a real turn of luck happened to him and he instantly got set on the path of success. Sham Kaushal, Vicky’s father, is a reputed action director and has worked with many A list celebrities of Bollywood. He began his journey with being an assistant stunt man before rising up to be an action director. Sham Kaushal is the father of Vicky and father-in-law of Katrina Kaif, who had to struggle a lot to achieve success in life.
Struggles Before Success
As much as Vicky Kaushal is the star of the hit films nowdays, the man who shaped him into what he is today is his father, who struggled a lot in his prime days. Although he faced some personal and professional problems in life, he was able to establish himself in the movie industry’s Bollywood. The incidents and information about his life were unveiled by him in an interview with Bhaskar as follows. He said that he had to drop a job in order to finance himself throughout his studies because the expenses were too high. One day, a friend advised him to go to Mumbai and try his fate and that was how Sham came to the city and worked for a salesman earning a measly sum of Rs 350.
The Secret Superhero of Action Films
Sham further elaborated that even though he did not feel compelled to work, he continued doing so to cater for his bills. At this period, some of his fellow Punjabi encouraged him to try acting as a stunt man which he thought sounded exciting. He later joined the profession of stuntman after experiencing a brief training in 1980. He got the appreciation for his work and then shifted to being an action director with Nana Patekar’s Prahaar.
During the time he spent working in Bollywood, he was associated with most of the senior actors such as Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Vinod Khanna, Anil Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Prakash Jha, Sanjay Leela Bhansali among others. Today, their son Vicky Kaushal is a Bollywood actor and to the persistent trying hard to carve out own niche in the industry is Sunny Kaushal.
