K'taka Shows Growth & Sustainability Can Coexist: Ramesh

In response to the decision made by the Karnataka Government to reserve their lands near the Yelahanka taluk of the Bengaluru Urban District, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh remarked that under Siddaramaiah’s leadership, the government proves that they’re capable of achieving social and economic growth at the same time while also being environmentally sustainable.
On Monday, the Government of Karnataka notified the reservation of 5678 acres and 32 guntas of land as the Greater Hesaraghatta Grassland Conservation Reserve.
Such notification came after the state cabinet’s decision last month to declare the aforementioned grassland as a conservation reserve.
Former Union Environment Minister Ramesh called remarking that the Karnataka Government ever since May 2023 had been getting an influx of new investments.
Along with this, they’ve been providing extraordinary support in the form of historic income, food security, and other structure, he said.

“Now, be it bold or not, these elevations of reserve to approximately 5700 acres of government land for Yelahanka taluk of Bengaluru Urban district shark is indeed the Greater Hesaraghatta Grassland Conservation Reserve,” Ramesh said via post on X.
According to Ramesh, “This grassland reserve has great importance and as a sizable basin, it will assist in groundwater recharge for farmers in nearby villages. Furthermore, it will add to the water resources of Bengaluru city.” Ramesh elaborated: “It will feature a natural carbon sink which moderates the impact of climate change in cities as well. It sustains a rich biodiversity ecosystem that protects animals, insects, plants and trees.”“It will provide a safe nesting place for migratory birds from Europe, Central Asia, the Himalayas as well as the Arctic,” he advised. The Karnataka government is showing states how economic progress, social advancement, and ecological balance can intertwine as they should. The Congress general secretary stated, “This is a model for other states too.” Referring to a notification, the Karnataka government proposed the region be delineated as the Greater Hesaraghatta Grassland Conservation Reserve. The notification, dated February 24 claimed that The Karnataka government has determined it is expedient to proclaim the area as a reserve due to its ecological, faunal, floral and geomorphological significance He further issued grassland, wildlife, and important Hesaraghatta area's protection as one of the sources for Bangalore water.
It noted that the conservation reserve will not encompass 'patta land' nor limit existing rights.
This Information will not affect the entitlements of nearby villagers, as stated.
