As it tries to dominate the Muslim world, it seems Iran has also set its own destruction in the process. It has poured enormous funds into Syria and got nothing in return. Iran put a sizable amount in Hezbollah too, but that did not bear fruits. The nation has squandered countless funds from Gaza to Lebanon and achieved nothing. Consequently, Iran’s supreme cleric Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is now controversial and leaves in solace. Questions are being raised on his verdicts that why after spending a lot of money Iran has failed to sustain in Gaza, Lebanon and Syria against the Israeli attacks. Iran has made claims of having presence in those countries.

The Outrage in Iran

A considerable anger against foreign expenditure hasenveloped the Iranian society. With respect to Benny Sabti’s observations, the Iranian populace is enraged by the massive power outages widely seen in the nation with the Republic lacking sufficient finances to provide energy. Sabti notes that power supply can be unavailable for over six hours of the day in Tehran. Abraiding inflation rates, shortage of water supplies, energy inefficient shipping and fossil fuel powered industries paint a dismal image for the cities in Iran. Sabti mentions that due to all the factors mentioned, people were unable to leave their homes causing lockdowns. The unemployment rate in Iran estimates at around 35% now from the 23%. The Iranian society views this as the result of utter failure of the government in Iran.

What do Iranians think?

With Iran constantly at conflict with Israel, an Iranian general has made it clear that “Israel in this case is much stronger and fights without any limitations, while we are constantly bound by numerous restrictions” the general goes on about the current view in Iran, “As a result of all of this, we have finally lost the ability to do anything unorthodox against Israel or to neutralize those aggressive acts.” With public outrage at its peak and what Trump’s view of Iran will shape up to be is still debated, the anger against the current Iranian government seems to be the solution the general proposes.
