Vashishtha Narayan Singh, who was born in the year 1942 in Basantpur Bihar, is a village, was a noted as a child mathematical prodigy. He was born in police constable’s family. Talking about his educational background, the candidate had his schooling from Netarhat School at Jharkhand. He continued to the college level education at the Patna Science College.
He proved himself in academic performance by emerging as the best student in both BSc and MSc examinations in the subsequent year. He was again successful in another test which was the over all national level test conducted by the UGC for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in 1964.
