India May Host Asia Cup 2025 at Neutral Venue in September: Report
As an important step towards the T20 World Cup in 2026, the Asia Cup 2025 is expected to take place in September at a neutral venue, although India has the hosting rights.
The previous edition was contested in ODI format to prepare teams for the 2023 50-over World Cup in India. This time, however, the Asia Cup will take place in a T20 format giving an opportunity to the participating teams to prepare well ahead of the global ICC event..
Neutral venue expected for political reasons
"A Press Trust of India (PTI) report quoted an Asian Cricket Council (ACC) source as saying, 'The tournament will be held in September. India has the hosting rights but has decided to play it in UAE or Sri Lanka.' "

While the responsibility for organizing the event officially rests with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), this tournament will more than likely happen at a third country due to the ongoing India – Pakistan conflict.
The same instance occurred during the 2025 Champions Trophy where the Indian team had to play all their matches in Dubai instead of the base of Pakistan, who were the contracted hosts of the tournament.
