New Delhi: There was a time when Indian buyers had to wrestle with the daunting task of picking a car from a handful of models when purchasing a vehicle for themselves or their families, that time has well and truly passed. The last couple of decades have been remarkable for the Indian car market, as it has produced some of the most stunning and attractive machines on wheels ever made.

Within the budgetary category, we got, Tata Curve, Maruti Dzire, and Honda Amaze, while for the luxurious class we got cars such as Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Kia Carnival in 2024. They were all released during 2024.

The Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) 2025 award was won by Mahindra Thar ROXX. In the SUV category, the Mahindra Thar ROXX emerged victorious alongside Maruti Suzuki which was pipped by two points over the former, while the Maruti Suzuki Swift came third.

The five-door rendition of the Thar SUV made its initial debut in August 2024 and is set to be contended at the said event and it's called Mahindra Thar Roxx, like its predecessor it comes in MX1, MX3, MX5, AX3L, AX5L and AX7L trims and is crusted between 12.99 and 22.49 Lakhs.

The Indian audience are not economically shy in putting their hard earned money into different automotive equipment manufacturers and Mahindra Thar Roxx has been a glaring example of it because when the audience heard that this SUV comprised of 139 points they immediately knew that the incumbent contender Maruti Suzuki Swift would stand at 83, and Maruti Suzuki Dzire at 137.

Some of the vehicles that were listed under nomination are Mahindra Thar RoXX, Maruti Dzire, Maruti Swift, MG Windsor EV, Citroen Basalt, Tata Curve, Tata Punch EV and BYD eMAX 7.
