From Poverty to Stardom: Actor Overcomes Adversity to Command High Fees

Coming from a humble household, this actor worked effortlessly around the clock to achieve success and success, and has clearly never shined away from dreaming big. From Punjabi theatre, where he made a name for himself as a writer, actor, and director, this actor's journey transformed into something far more lucrative. He then went on to share his talent with the world through Sony TV's Comedy Circus where he earned fame and recognition as a household name throughout India. Yes, we are in fact talking about Rajiv Thakur.
Now, he is seen on the Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show on Netflix, where his fantastic comic timing never fails to entertain the audience. He also recently spoke about his bleak childhood and how his family struggled with poverty. His father, a thread factory owner, lost everything when a fire took out his machinery during a rain that lasted all week in their town. “My father’s struggle began after my birth. The day I was born, it rained continuously for 7 days. It was in Amritsar and I was born on Saturday. Hamara karkhana tha dhaage ka, all the machines burnt,” Thakur said.
He reminisced about the hardship of living in a modest 1 BHK flat. “We shifted from one single room to a house that comprised of our bedroom, bathroom, and even a drawing room. We resided there.” Rajiv mentioned.
Along with that, Rajiv mentioned the physical abuse he survived from his father while growing up such as getting whipped with a belt. He remarks about it with laughter, saying, “I never amuses me but whenever I think back to it, I cannot stop laughing. Picture a scenario where it rained for a week straight, and I have two sisters aur saari balaye maine le li. He did it in such a way that wherever stands he would make a scene.” Rajiv added.
Rajiv, who had a tough upbringing, suggests that he is a lucky mascot for those around him. He saw it with his own eyes with his friend and his fellow comedian, Kapil Sharma. “I am lucky for others. You see, Kapil mera dost hai.” Archana Puran Singh’s husband Parmeet Sethi, moved with Rajiv’s honesty, embraced him, saying, “You are also my best friend.”
