Fatima Sana Shaikh who portrayed Aamir Khan’s daughter in the movie was in the spotlight with so many praises showered upon her. She was comfortable behind the camera from a very young age when she was found ina Hindi film called “Chachi 420” where she worked with the renowned Indian actor Kamal Haasan. Years later Fatima tried her luck in other films such as Akash Vani, and Tahaan, in which she again received mixed reviews. Amithab Bachan’s film ushered in the turning point of her career as she starred alongside him and got to participate in Haryanvi wrestling. The film went on to become the most popular and commercially successful film in India at the time, crossing over 2000 crores boat at the box office.
During an interview, Fatima revealed how tough it was for her to find roles after her breakout performance at such young age. She faced constant rejection from casting directors, who claimed she did not suit the stereotype heroine’s look. Fatima Sana Shaikh withdrew herself from the media attention when she made her screen debut at the age of 5. She then featured in numerous films like Tahaan, Bittoo Boss and Akash Vani though Aamir Khan’s Dangal was the very first film of hers which revealed her character in such depth and detail. The movie centered upon the life and character of Geeta Phogat. She is portrayed as Mahavir Phogat’s daughter and Aamir Khan’s character who encourages the daughter into wrestling. Fatima is expected to appear in the drama film Metro…In Dino which T-Series and Anurag Basu will direct alongside actors Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma and Ali Fazal.
