EDF India & Actis Partner to Develop Smart Metering Infrastructure

On Wednesday, EDF India announced a new joint venture (JV) with Actis, a world-renowned investor in sustainability, to implement Smart metering infrastructure.
This partnership plans to establish a Dedicated Platform Company for Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Provider (AMISP) concessions which will strengthen EDF India’s and Actis’ resolve to invest in India’s power sector, the company explained.
For this joint venture, EDF India and Actis shall integrate their global experience in energy infrastructure and service investment ADD.
The government of India is implementing the National Smart Metering Project under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), a plan that includes the installation of 250 million smart meters by the year 2025.
These solutions aim the increase operational efficiencies, decrease aggregate technical and commercial losses, and improve the overall financial viability of the power distribution companies (DISCOMs) in India.
Federico D’Amico who spearheads EDF India expressed in a statement, “We look forward to working with Actis in advancing the deployment of smart metering infrastructure in India.” “Fernandes & Associates,” an Indian multinational has partnered with EDF India to integrate smart metering technologies as they makes efforts towards the moldel of smart cities.
Asanka Rodrigo, Partner at Actis remarked, “Smart metering is one of the primary steps undertaken to maximize the efficiency of energy use in minimizing energy consumption, utility billing, and losses.”
The partnership between EDF India and Actis implement the Indian Smart Grid Mission and contributes to India’s overall purpose to empower the country with a more reliable and effective electric power distribution.
The initiative uses new advances in technology, data analytics, and global best practices to create a transformative impact on the country’s power sector to benfit utilities and consumers.
