Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma has stated that an inquiry would be held in the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ issue about the extent of government expenditure incurred on the renovations of the official residence of the chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal.

The BJP considers this bungalow at 6, Flagstaff Road, which Kejriwal occupied during his reign as CM, to be “Sheesh Mahal.” The BJP that dislodged AAP from power in Delhi previously this month, has charged him for misusing taxpayers money for “luxury modifications” in the said bungalow.

Verma said, “I will uncover how much money was injected into the hair raising Chief Ministers office that was built three years ago and under which terms the AAP government authorized such outlandish expenditures.”

Verma who beat party head Kejriwal from New Delhi assembly constituency seat in the February 5 polls, said, “Expenditure incurred on the embellishment of the Chief Ministers residence at 6 Flagstaff Road ‘Sheesh Mahal’ as tagged by BJP will be looked into as well My contention is what was the capex under the previous government.”

Verma, also the PWD Minister, was in Defense Colony to assess the state of development works in company with senior officials in the department.

He examined the broken culvert, also known as ‘puliya,’ which has been neglected for two years. This has forced the roads to be blocked and elevated the traffic in the region. He asked the officials to hasten the tender process while assuring the repair works would start by March.

Commenting on the importance of the road, he said, “This is one of the roads that leads to Barapullah and hence is an important corridor for commuters. The previous government’s negligence has been so severe that the cost of the Barapullah Project has cross the previously sanctioned cost.”

He vehemently stated that no minister from Arvind Kejriwal’s team has visited the site to track progress in the last 10 years, thus blaming the previous administration for the neglect.
