After more than five months, two prominent indices, NSE Nifty50 and BSE Sensex, have dropped significantly, falling over 13 percent from the peaks recorded earlier. The mid cap and small cap indices have also suffered a decline, correcting over 20 percent each.

India's renowned leadership event now makes its way to New Delhi this week for it’s second edition ‘BS Manthan’. The event is scheduled from February 27 to 28, 2022 and will focus on discussing the economic and business challenges alongside the opportunities that come with it . The decision makers from both the industry and policy makers will be present at the event to discuss shaping the economic policies for growth in India. On February 28, Friday, Samir Arora, the founder and chief investment officer of Helios Capital, will host a chat from 2:15 pm to 2:45 pm aimed toward Indian foreign investors. His session will focus on the general investment climate looking forward as well as provide insights on the Indian equity markets.

The attrition is worsened by the firing of foreign institutional investors (FIIs), who have been net sellers for the entire period in question. They have pulled out close to $25 billion from their Indian equity investments since the peak of the market. This has largely contributed to the relative underperformance of the domestic stock market up until this point in 2025 within the context of the broader world. Out of the top 14 global benchmark indices across Asia, Europe, and the US, only three have registered negative returns this calendar year, two of which happen to be the Sensex and the Nifty.

Domestic institutional investors have maintained their aggression, investing over Rs 3 trillion since September 2024 in Indian equities.

In general, mutual fund investors have repositioned their portfolios and several funds are starting to view this correction as an opportunity to aggressively target fundamentally strong stocks that are currently trading at drastically reduced prices. Strategy also differs: Some funds focus only on largecap stocks as these are perceived to have lower risk and some actively look for mid and small cap stocks which they believe have much better growth potential once the market settles down.

As Arora, who has over three decades of experience in the stock market, is expected to speak, these investment opportunities will become more clear.
