Woefully, the film directed by Sajid Khan and produced by Vashu Bhagnani features Saif Ali Khan, Ritesh Deshmukh, Ram Kapoor, Tamannaah Bhatia, Esha Gupta and Bipasha Basu, along with Satish Shah, Nawab Shah, Chunky Pandey, Darshan Jariwala in supporting roles and Madhuri Dixit in a cameo role.  Humshakals was made with a budget of Rs 64 crore and grossed Rs 86.60 crore at the box office, yet the film was deemed a box office failure. The rating reviews gave were incredibly negative, as were the audience’s reviews. The film also recorded the lowest IMDb rating at 1.7.  Saif Ali Khan expressed disappointment in how well his movie did and went on to say that he regretted working on Humshakals, claiming that his performance did not suit his personality. Reportedly, the actor said, “That was not the kind of humor I appreciated. The movie that is coming next, Happy Endings, is closer to the comedy that I identify with. I was enjoying myself too much while trying to be someone I am not.” He further explained, “The film was really regressive. In fact, I remember while watching, I kept asking myself, what’s wrong with me? I’ve been looking inwards quite a lot, and trust that I will not go where I went with Humshakals.”  In this movie, Khan, Riteish Deshmukhand and Ram Kapoor played three men, or rather nine different characters. Himesh Reshammiya wrote the songs for the film, while Ravi Yadav was in charge of the cinematography. Fox Studios co-produced ‘Humshakals’ which was filmed in a number of other countries.
