Ancelotti Confirms Mbappé Fit for Copa Semifinal Despite Tooth Issue

Kylian Mbappe missed practice for a tooth issue but, per Ancelotti, is fit to appear versus Real Sociedad in the semifinals of the Copa del Rey for Real Madrid. 

With the second title of the cup in just three years at stake, Madrid will be aiming to win the first leg of the semifinals against Sociedad on Wednesday. 

Ancelotti told the press during the pre-match news conference, “His tooth gave him issues so he was not able to train, but he is traveling tomorrow, and in fact, he is able to play. Everyone who travels has a chance of playing the game." 

Mbappe scored no goals in Madrid’s 2-0 victory against Girona in the Spanish league on Sunday. He did, however, net six times in four recompensable matches, including a hat trick in the return leg of the Champions League blitz against Manchester City, following the Brazil forward Endrick who would directly take Mbappe's position if he doesn’t step on the field. 

Barcelona will be entertaining Atletico Madrid as the other Copa semifinal kicks off today. 

Madrid triumphed in their final Copa title in 2023 and were ousted by Atletico during the sixth season in the Round of 16.

Since its third Copa title in 2020, Sociedad has not reached the last four. They have lost their last three encounters in the Spanish league against Madrid.
